ROLE OF SOCIAL SCIENCES IN THE NATIONAL AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH SYSTEM
recently participated in the Discussion on Role of Social Sciences in
the National Agricultural Research System organized by the National
Academy of Agricultural Sciences (NAAS) at New Delhi (23 May 2015).
National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (NAAS) decided to organize a
brainstorming meeting to discuss the status, present role and
constraints, future role and how to strengthen social sciences in NARS
to play the expected future role well. NAAS was feeling that while
social sciences could play a larger role currently within NARS, their
role is not sufficiently recognised and a lot more needs to be done to
strengthen the capacities of social scientists to play this larger role.
A presentation on the current status of Agricultural Extension
discipline and the nature of challenges it faces was developed by CRISP.
The proceedings from this meeting would be brought out by NAAS
